LED hoods

Great replacement for old noisy fluorescent lights
Great product, the white LEDs are good during the day. The blue LEDS are ok for at night. There is only 3 blue LED's per hood, they aren't real bright, but are alright. I bought 2 hoods for my 55 gallons tank and they fit perfectly. I would recommend them. These would be for FRESHWATER only. Not nearly bright enough for saltwater.

Very Pleased with 1 feature lacking
I was very concerned about this hood fitting my aquarium. It fit perfectly. The hood dimensions are 11 5/16" by 22 7/8". I am also very pleased with the LED light, it really looks great. The LED is switchable to a dim, blueish night light. And this leads to the missing feature that would make this hood perfect (although a little more expensive). There is no automatic switch from day to night so if you are like me and require a timer to remember to turn the light off, the night light is a useless feature. Its really too bad because the blue night light is very pretty and has a nice look. One additional thing, I was concerned about replacing the LED only if it should ever die and I found that my local Pet store carries the LED only so I feel confident that I can replace it if it is needed.
Warning! Product demensions NOT actually 12" X 24"!
The description of this product clearly states 12" by 24". Actual dimensions are about 11 3/8" by just barely 23". So my aquarium, which measures precisely 12" by 24" with about an 1/8" lip on the inside, was not accommodated by these shortened measurements. I read the reviews about this product and one other review stated that the dimensions were less than the product description, but no one else said anything about it in their reviews. I figured I would trust the manufacturer over one person's review after double-checking that the product description did not have any disclosures about "actual dimensions".
To me, if it describes the product as 12" by 24", it ought to be at least CLOSE to that OR clearly state the actual dimensions SOMEWHERE. It really irritates me. Are aquarium hoods like 2 X 4's? I know lumber is not quite the dimensions labeled, but many people who buy lumber for carpentry projects are aware of this. I've had fish all my life and I've never heard of...
