Good light
Seems to be good so far. The top is hotter than you would think an LED would be but it is because of the power.
There is no power savings over fluorescent - check the numbers - power is required for sufficient light output to grow plants

Give me light
I bought this light about 2 months ago because all my plants in my 20 gallon were struggling to thrive in their poorly lit environment. i replaced a Marineland LED light that came with the 20 gallon starter kit. My plants are now doing 3x better. The Cryptocyrenes in the tank did ok under former light conditions but they have easily tripled in size. The Dwarf Rotala has a rough transition period, but it is now reaching the top of the tank and needs trimming. I thought my dwarf grass would improve, but i have had little luck. It just stays the same and has sent out few runners. Most noticeable has been the growth of my amazon swords. Easily have doubled in size. If iwere to do it over i would have purchased the next size up-24 inch. For beginners, remember: With great power comes great responsibility. Be careful with your photoperiod or algae will become a problem.
Love it
I bought this to replace two 15W T8 lamps, which provided sufficient light for my planted aquarium as long as I limited the plant selection to low-light plants.
This (the smallest size) has 27 watts of LEDs, and provides a *lot* more light than the combined 30 watts of T8s. The tank is extremely well lit now, and I will have a much wider choice of plants.
The built in timer is a plus. No added equipment is needed to control the light cycles.
