Great light, but only for rimless tanks
I've got two of these lights, and they work great for a 10 gallon cube for growing low-medium light plants. When these first came out in early 2011, the first batch had bulbs that burned out in a short period of time. This happened to me with my first one. You can't replace the fluorescent light tubes !
I have been running two of these Fluval lamps for the past year or so. I am quite happy with them for my 1.9 gallon nano tanks - probably more light than I need, but my complaint is that you can't replace the fluorescent tube for these things. They are basically moulded inside and cannot be changed and Fluval/Hagen doesn't stock replacements. So not very environmentally friendly. When I figure the lamp is losing brightness i.e. after 6 months I have to chuck the entire light fixture. Come on - someone at Hagen/Fluval needs to wake up !!!
